The Rotary Club of Oban President Peter Tosh gave a warm welcome to visiting Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Hückeswagen-Radevormwald.
March 2025
Peter Schotters (Club Secretary), Mario Britta (Senior Vice-President) and Britta Scheidt from the Rotary Club of Huckeswagen - Radevormwald, which is near Cologne in North Rhine, Westfalia, were given a warm welcome by Oban Club President Peter Tosh at the regular lunchtime meeting of the Rotary Club of Oban, in the Royal Hotel Oban.
Peter, Mario and Britta gave an interesting and informative talk on their club and what their aims will be for 2025, including the environment and importance of education. Peter emphasised the need for understanding, kindness and co-operation, in difficult times, and the importance of the values of Rotary, including Fellowship and Service before Self. Our German friends were accompanied by Iain James a Scot who worked in Germany for over 30 years and now lives on Seil.
The two clubs exchanged pendants as a sign of the bonds that bind Rotary Clubs all over the world and hope that the relationship can flourish in the years ahead.
The visiting party will be taking in Argyll with trips to Mull, Glencoe and Dunadd, before returning to Germany. They are enjoying the beautiful weather and asked if it was always as nice in Argyll. President Peter replied “Yes , always”.
