Lorn Clay Target Club hosted the Annual Rotary Club of Oban Clay Target Competition, organised by Past Rotary President and crack shot Billy MacLean, at the North Connel Moss on 15th August.

Members of the Lorn Clay Target Club provided all equipment, judges and coaching to the large body of Rotarians who attended the Shoot.

Rotarians Peter Tosh and PP Terry MacNair raised money for good causes by selling tasty burgers donated free of charge by Jackson’s Butchers Oban to all attendees.

Rotary President Douglas Small gave a vote of thanks to the Lorn Clay Target Club for all their guidance, tips and support on an excellent night enjoyed by all.

In a very close contest, Rotarian Dave Waltho took third place ,Chris Sutton pressed hard for 2nd place and Tommy McQuade sneaked in to win the competition by a small margin.
Members of the Rotary Club of Oban enjoyed an evening as guests of Lorn Gun Club at Achnacree Moss recently. They received tuition from the experts of the Gun Club before trying their hands shooting at clay pigeons, discovering that like many other sports it is not as easy as it looks.

The evening included burgers and onions provided by the Rotary Catering Corps, produced on a traditional charcoal barbecue.

The Rotary Shooting Cup was won by immediate Past President Tommy MacQuade with the junior prize being won by Matthew McDonald son of recent recruit Ken McDonald.

Organiser Past President Billy MacLean (no mean shot himself) thanked the Gun Club members for their hospitality and patience and presented them with a gift to end the proceedings just before the midges arrived and the rain fell.
