Argyll RDA Driving Group, which operates from a base in Benderloch, provides a learning experience for the disabled of controlling horse drawn carriages which leads to enhanced confidence and well being for those taking part. The enterprise is now well established with many people with disabilities taking part and the organisation ,which has now got two fully trained horses, is in the process of fund raising for a second modern carriage which is more light weight than the traditional ones thereby making it easier for the horses to pull the incumbents.
Oban Rotary has agreed to contribute to the purchase of a second modern carriage and Rotary President Graham Fraser is seen here presenting a cheque for £500 to RDA Organiser, Jane Isaac , for this purpose. Also in the picture is Rotarian Ken Oxland and on the left in the carriage is Vivienne Price and to her right Elaine Trigg along with the stars of the show Red and Dixie.
Argyll RDA Driving Group is a very worthwhile local initiative involving input from a great number of volunteers who ensure the well being of the participants and indeed the horses who are integral to the undertaking.
